Durga (a.k.a. Katerina)

Durga is a name of the Divine Mother of the Universe. She is the force, or Shakti, through which divinity manifests. Durga is power; she is the protector and benefactor of her children. She is the upholder of dharma, righteousness, and is ever ready to fight for the protection of the good. She is commonly pictured as having eight or ten arms with which she carries weapons and gives blessings. Insight, discrimination, devotion and bliss are her weapons, which in turn bring about the destruction of the evils in the human personality. Through Durga__singlequote__s grace, the aspirant may be freed from adversity, given the insight to remove obstacles from the spiritual path, or provided with liberation from ignorance, and thus, liberation from karma and rebirth. She is the perfect teacher, combining in her personality the firmness and the love necessary to impart knowledge to others successfully. Durga rides a lion, the symbol of spiritual strength.

Katerina was given the spiritual name Durga upon the completion of her Yoga Teacher Training at the Sivananda Vedanta and Yoga Center. She loves to challenge, inform, educate, and inspire her students. She combines her studies in meditation, pranayama
